ASP Adds New Soilmec Piling And Anchoring Machines To Its Fleet

ASP is gearing up for some serious piling and anchoring action with the addition of two latest technology rigs to their equipment fleet.

The Italian-made Soilmec machines further enhance ASP’s position as Australia’s leading retention and in-ground specialists.

The new Soilmec SR-30 hydraulic drilling rig is specially designed to create cased bore piles, deep uncased bored piles and CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) piles.

It can create piles more than 40 metres deep, making it an exciting piece of machinery.

“It allows us to drill deeper piles than ever before and do it much faster,” says ASP general manager Patrick Buckley. “Faster completion times mean happy clients.”

ASP has put the machine straight to work in Sydney as part of the extensive ground works preparation for Casba by Parkview Constructions.

The Waterloo project requires the creation of 580 CFA Secant Piles that are 600mm in diameter, as well as drawing on ASP’s dewatering and groundwater treatment services, anchoring and concrete spraying.

Deep CFA piles are achieved by means of the long auger string and the SR-30 can be converted into a DW diaphragm wall base machine to work with a guided grab.

The machine is also capable of micropiling.

High technology aspects of the SR-30 are nowhere more evident than in the 12 inch touch screen for monitoring and control of the operating parameters.

Known as the Drilling Mate System (DMS), it features a PLC controller for all electrically actuated functions with full fault checking and reporting and a monitor unit designed to display engine information and diagnostics, pump pressures, mast verticality, drilling depth, rotary speed and pressure and crowd pressure.

The monitor also displays drilling trends graphics.

The other newcomer to the ASP line-up is Soilmec’s PSM-8 multipurpose drilling rig.

A highly adaptable and versatile modular rig, it will allow ASP to deliver a wide range of services to clients faster than ever before.

Soilmec PSM-8 is an adaptable multi-purpose drilling rig.

The modular design of the PSM-8 is engineered for the execution of micropiles, tie-backs, jet-grouting, coring, drains, and water wells.

The rig is fitted with proportional hydraulic servo-assisted controls that make the operations smooth and trouble free even in the hardest working conditions.

At the heart of its ability to adapt to any customer need or geological conditions is a kinematic mechanism featuring a 650 mm extendable boom, swivelling ± 29°, joint 90°.

The PSM-8 adds to its versatility with an optional motoreducer slew ring for radial drilling and can also be optioned for:

  • Jet grouting
  • Mud pumping
  • Top hammer
  • Rod carousel, and
  • Radio operated remote control

“We believe these additions to our already broad-ranging equipment roster will keep us ahead of the game,” says Buckley. “Clients have come to expect the best from ASP and we aim to deliver.”
